While there’s a lot of things to keep in mind, first thing’s first! Create a good filing system:
- Name your files logically – “poster-moodboard”, “poster-design-01”, “poster-design=print” etc.
- Don’t use ‘illegal’ characters – name your files without special characters and try not to use spaces.
- Save regularly – get into the habit of saving every 5-10 minutes, and save a copy/new file when you make significant changes.
- Try to file everything as you go, otherwise file things properly once or twice a week.
Back. Up. Everything. And do it regularly!
- Respect copyright and licenses.
- Talk to an accountant if you plan to freelance or sell products.
